If this item is ordered together with other products, this item may be shipped and arrive separately.The 3Com Switch 4070 supports 3Com Gigabit Multilayer Switching software, which offers feature-rich Layer 2 functionality, Layer 3 switching for IP networks, and advanced traffic prioritization and security capabilities to accommodate the ever growing requirements of core Gigabit backbones. Features: 3Com XRN?(eXpandable Resilient Networking) technology allows implementation of high availability configurations using two interconnected Switch 4050s, Switch 4060s, or Switch 4070s, scaling the backbone to 48 wirespeed Gigabit Layer 3 switching ports (with purchase of optional 3Com XRN Interconnect Kit, available now, or future GBIC Fabric Interconnect). Advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionality—such as multicast filtering, enhanced QoS/CoS services, virtual LANs, and multilayer traffic classification and prioritization—provides network-wide traffic control. 3Com-developed ASIC architecture delivers 56 Gbps multilayer switching capacity per unit, wire-speed performance across all ports, and a forwarding rate of more than 41 million pps. Layer 3 switching capabilities—such as IP unicast using static routes, RIP/RIPv2, and CIDR—help enhance performance,provide network control and security, and enable routing between VLANs. Support for high availability software features such as Link Aggregation using 802.3ad, Resilient links, Spanning Tree and Rapid Spanning Tree (802.1w), seven groups of RMON, and e-mail alerts. Security features like 802.1X RADIUS client support and Routed Access Control lists protect sensitive network information and ensure that users have access to authorized resources. High-density fiber connectivity by populating the Switch 4070 with 1000BASE-SX and 1000BASE-LX SFP transceivers. Optional 1000BASE-SX, 1000BASE-T, 1000BASE-LX and GBIC-based expansion modules deliver four ports of high-performance, feature-rich switching over copper or multimode fiber. 3Com Network Supervisor, (60-day trial version included with the switch), offers discovery, mapping, monitoring, and alerting for easy network administration. Specifications: Ports: 24 SFP (mini-GBIC) slots accommodating 1000BASE-SX or 1000BASE-LX SFPs; 1 expansion slot. Media interfaces: SC, LC, RJ-45, MT-RJ (depending on SFP and GBIC module configuration). Switching features: Full-rate nonblocking switching on all Ethernet ports; full-/half-duplex autosensing and flow control; 802.1Q VLAN support; 802.1p and multilayer traffic prioritization; Layer 3 switching supporting IP unicast routing, RIP/RIP2, ARP, ICMP, CIDR, UDP Helper, IP multinetting; routed access control lists.
